Unique People

Daily writing prompt
Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

Every person is unique in one way or another. There isn’t any one trait or aspect that sets people apart from the crowd. Some are much more noticable than others, like if I saw someone without legs skateboarding down the street, I’d notice that very quickly! But they aren’t any more unique than everyone else.

What makes someone unique is the combination of their physical looks, personality traits, upbringing, and hobbies. There are so many factors of what defines a person, it’s impossible to sync any two people to be exactly the same. Even identical twins have slight variations in their genetic make-up that makes them a little different. I have twin uncles and my family can tell them apart because we know them! Some people may have been fooled by their pranks before but my family couldn’t be fooled.

While some people may display typical stereotypes, that doesn’t hold true for everyone. Stereotypes aren’t true for everyone. I’m a blonde but I don’t see myself falling under the “basic blonde” category. In high school, I fit in more with the over achieving nerds who all ended up with mental breakdowns from no longer being able to achieve as much as we did as kids. Some of us struggled with different aspects of our achievements. For example, I graduated with a 3.9 GPA but I was upset it wasn’t higher with how hard I worked to get there. My current girlfriend graduated top 10 of our class (even though she was mentally checked out the last two years) and mostly felt as if she wasn’t doing enough with her time. She had two or three jobs at the time and always kept busy with other activities.

I know I am unique because while I share a lot of traits with a lot of other people, I know I am the one who has them all. I have a good sense of humor. Often, I can take a joke and even dish it back. I am very sarcastic and love to make people laugh. I am a decent artist and an excellent writer. I am very stubborn and my will to make my dreams come true is very strong. I am willing to talk things out when there’s an argument and even admit I am wrong (which is why it pisses me off so much when someone tries to say “I told you so” I literally just admitted my ignorance and/or faults. Shut up.). I am short with green eyes that sometimes turn blue depending on the lighting or my clothes. I prefer to wear what’s comfortable. I am pansexual. I tend to be shy at first and then I’m all over the place!

On their own, each of my traits don’t seem very unique to me, but when together, they make me who I am. Every little freckle or dimple on my face to the scar on my foot from when I was five make up a small part of me. I am unique because when you put all of it together, there isn’t another one on the planet.

  1. Hey it’s Alex. I liked reading your post and your opinions. And lol, “I told you so” when you admit your wrongs is the worst thing to say to me too😅. I wonder did we all do stupid stuff when we were five to get a scar on our foot🤔 (I have a scar from when my brother placed a iron on my foot, i was his experiment person.😅) I tend to get insecure cause of my background i dont know if i’ll grow out of that. And you gf must be really smart, good for her 🙂. Hope your having a good day.
