Time to Get Serious

My girlfriend and I spent the entire week this week looking at houses. We’d like to rent a place and while my girlfriend found her dream home, there was a $35 application fee. We’re finding some places with $80 application fees! These application fees are for every tenant over 18, meaning we’d have to pay $70-$160 just to apply to rent the house! It’s apparently common practice now to deter people mindlessly applying to every place they can, but it feels more like a scam now! It’s likely someone along the line realized they could make more money with higher fees to squeeze out as much as they can and it’s just stuck to this day. Luckily, there is a way to pay a fee through the website to apply to a selection of places without paying the application fee, but not a lot of places do that. It’s a tiring process. Some of these houses will be less than $2k a month but still have an $80 application fee!

Luckily, my friends had planned a DnD game for yesterday! It was exactly what I needed to destress a bit from everything we have to do before July. It’s a TMNT themed monster of the week DnD game in a fan server. We finally have the full cast of characters so this is the first session with all six of us! Unfortunately, that meant a big canon event happened!

I was nervous at first, but the event was a lot more fun and crazy than I expected! We basically ran into the next character, Casey, and realized some big stuff was going on. My character, April, managed to reach some contacts to talk to a journalist and get some answers. We also had to save her from being killed. During that chase scene I got to use my makeshift flamethrower! I had messaged the group chat to say what I had in my bag: bug spray, sunscreen, med kit, survival kit, water, snacks, and a lighter. The med kit had isopropyl alcohol and bug spray is in fact flammable. I sprayed the guy with the alcohol and used the spray and lighter to set him on fire! I surprised everyone and it was awesome! It was a good thing I rolled well! It was awesome!

I had a lot of fun and the rest of this week is going to be sharing a lot of fun anecdotes and drawings with each other! I’m excited for everything to come! I still have a lot of work to do and my anxiety is still high, but this break really helped ease some tension and give me what I needed to clear my head!
