I love the way music makes me feel. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve used music to help me deal with my auditory processing disorder and just feel normal. When I was in elementary school, I had this CD called “Girl Authority” which is just a bunch of songs empowering girls sung by younger girls. Songs like “Hit me with your Best Shot,” “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Hollaback Girl,” “Dancing Queen,” etc. I’d carry my pink Cinderella themed CD player around the house and plug it in where I wanted to hang out and just play the music.
Now that I’m older, I stream my music however I feel like. Recently, I’ve been getting hit with some songs from my childhood from when I was in upper elementary and middle school. It’s a nice trip to listen to the popular songs in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. My brother and I had a two hour road trip where we took turns picking those kinds of songs and just talking about our childhood and lives now. It was great!
I also really enjoy just looking up whatever song I feel like listening to. I know a lot of people might see electronic music as just noise, but I always feel something. I really love “Flight” by Tristam and Braken because they managed to capture the light airy feeling of flying through the skies! I also like “Tsunami” by DVBBS and Borgeous for the same reason. The music feels like it builds up before crashing down with the beat drop!
I also just love singing and dancing. They’re always a great way to just vent out my feelings or have fun! Sometimes I do silly dances with no music in front of my friends and they laugh or I’ll just feel the beat and dance my heart out in the privacy of my own room. I just love music so much. It helps keep my focus when I’m stressing out and some songs are great at calming me down. Certain types of voices like really low vocals get me all kinds of giddy. I sometimes find myself physically reacting to the songs and just laughing with how pleasantly surprised I am! I just love music.
