Constant Distractions

Daily writing prompt
How do you waste the most time every day?

I honestly spend a lot of my time scrolling through the internet these days. If I ever find myself on YouTube I end up spending hours scrolling through shorts. Usually, I use YouTube to find songs I like. I don’t know why I don’t just look them up on Spotify, this is just what I’ve always done. Eventually, I find something that catches my eye and the next thing I know, it’s been hours on just YouTube shorts. It can be really annoying sometimes.

Recently, I’ve found myself scrolling through Twitter and Tumblr. A lot of artists post really interesting fan content! I love looking at various comics based on fandoms I’m in! I draw a lot of inspiration from other artists and writers. It’s amazing to see what people can do with enough practice and dedication! I have actually ended up making quite a few friends from interacting with artists!

From time to time I enjoy spending hours playing video games! I mostly play simple games on my phone but I do go through phases were I play for hours on my laptop. Right now, my laptop is broken and I’m working on fixing it, so I only have a few game options available on the laptop my dad let me borrow. I mostly just stick to a few free online game sites or the paid games on my Origin or Steam accounts. However, my dad’s old laptop can only handle a select few of these games. I still have a Nintendo Switch that I can play some games on so I still have Minecraft!

The kid I work with enjoys going on walks everyday as part of her routine. Our route tends to be about a mile long and it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour on average. The kid tends to meander and take moments to mess around with the vegetation. There’s also a playground and a small general store along the path where she likes to get a snack which tends to add to our time. I like to spend those moments mulling over story ideas or messing around on my phone some more. I usually manage to type them out on my phone or on my laptop when we get back to the house.
