I enjoy all kinds of different music, it’s hard to pick a favorite. Each genre has something different to offer and what I listen to really depends on my mood. I enjoy rock, metal, country, pop, rap, alternative, and various electronic music.
My mother loves country music. She’d play all kinds of her favorite hits, most of which I’ve forgotten, but there are quite a few I grew to love as well, like Mama’s Broken Heart and Gunpowder and Lead. I also grew up in the South, so country is very popular. I can remember sitting on the bus coming home from camp and everyone singing camp songs before moving on to country music. It was a lot of fun! There was one in which everyone was singing the chorus and then paused on the next verse before a group of boys in the back started loudly singing it to keep the song going! I really enjoy Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert! However I do enjoy a few songs by Luke Bryan.
My dad loves 80’s and 90’s rock music! He’d often play Europe in the car, my favorite on that disc being the Final Countdown. Eventually, I grew to enjoy more recent rock music with a bit of metal mixed in! Some of the bands I listen to are mostly rock with a bit of variety like Starset and Falling in Reverse! I also enjoy some Christian rock bands like Skillet and Red! I didn’t know they were Christian groups until after I starting falling in love with some of their songs. Other groups I really enjoy are Thousand Foot Krutch, Shinedown, Green Day, Nickelback, and Evanescence!
A lot of my close friends enjoyed pop and rap music! I’d often listen to the latest hits in the car or on the radio in my room when I was a kid! Growing up the popular artists were Jason Derulo, Usher, Bruno Mars, Kesha, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Eminem, Macklemore, and so many more! Most of these songs are just nostalgic for me, but I still enjoy other bands like Imagine Dragons! I don’t enjoy a lot of the newer rap music but I found a few bands I love like Hollywood Undead and Neffex!
Eventually, I started discovering my own music and found a lot of alternative and electronic artists I love! I do listen to some My Chemical Romance, Set it Off, Twenty One Pilots, and Panic at the Disco! I have also found quite a few electronic artists that I enjoy and can’t entirely name! I mostly remember the record companies that release the albums like Spinnin’ Records and Monstercat. I do remember a few artists like Tristam and Braken, Pegboard Nerds, and LMFAO. There are a lot of different subgenres of electronic type of music: electronic, dubstep, house, trap, etc. I enjoy it all! I really enjoy a lot of remixes as well! One subgenre is Nightcore which carried me through middle and high school! I still enjoy a few Nightcore songs here and there mostly because it’s a great way to discover new music! I ended up finding a lot of my favorites from Nightcore. Now, I’ve been looking up the original versions as well, but I still enjoy a few Nightcore songs for the sake of nostalgia.
