Scouring the Internet

Daily writing prompt
What are you curious about?

My brain is constantly active, like a four lane highway of thoughts, songs, ideas, and questions. I can’t explain what all goes on in my head, but I do end up with a lot of random questions. Being neurodivergent, I cannot leave these questions unanswered.

The best part of having a smart phone, I have constant access to the internet. I do a lot of research for the stories I’m writing. How to fix broken glass, how to pick the lock on a bathroom door, what does the name Jugo mean, what is 5’4 in centimeters, etc. A few weeks ago, a kid asked me if the song Old McDonald was related to the fast food chain. I did the research and the answer is no. As it turns out, the song has origins dating back centuries with many variations over the years! The song we know today was originally recorded before the restaurant chain was established by the McDonald family. I have a lot that I am curious about, but I always look up the answer when it’s asked!

There are a lot of things I will probably never understand completely. I don’t completely understand DID if I’m honest, but sadly psychology is not a rigid science. The innerworkings of the mind is complicated and requires constant research and updates to see what really works. I recently discovered I am very likely autistic, but I also found that getting a clinical diagnosis is nearly impossible for my age and gender. Not a lot of clinicians are willing to diagnose it even though it isn’t as uncommon as they believed. DID isn’t as easy to measure, test, or treat. I cannot entirely wrap my head around it, but I know it’s very real to them, and that’s all that matters. All I need to know is who I’m talking to. Just tell me a name and I’ll work with you. The same with transgender. I personally will never understand what they go through or what’s going on in their head, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Yes, I’m curious, but I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand all the different genders or identities. But as far as I’m concerned, I don’t have to, if they found something that helps them better understand themselves, then that’s all that matters.
