What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?
After ten years of dreaming and planning, I have finally decided to start working on my writing career. I have many ideas for novels and short stories, but none of those help me without a following. These next few months I plan to focus on creating more content to upload on my blog and podcast. This requires recording weekly and writing daily. The goal is to post enough to earn some revenue to eventually quit one of my jobs.
My girlfriend graduates this May. I am very excited for her, but I am mostly counting down the days I can finally relax a little. Working multiple jobs and still living paycheck to paycheck is exhausting and I am eager for a break! I don’t want to put too much pressure on her, but I believe there should be a balance between the two of us at least.
I like my job babysitting. The kids are great and the work isn’t complicated. It requires a lot of driving, but at least I am compensated and I can spend some of my free time writing. The pay is livable, but the hours are a little short with the kid being in school. I plan to discuss with her mother about what the summer will look like so I have a better idea for the future. My fast food job requires me to wake up around 5 in the morning and keeps me on my feet dealing with dozens of people. As an introvert, I need time to recharge after major social interactions. I just need to decompress after a long day. Babysitting still requires some time to decompress but at least I have more energy and time to enjoy my day!
Currently, my goal is to start regularly posting episodes for my podcast each week. I have already started working with some of my friends to record some episodes and I have found it doesn’t take me too long to edit the audio. A few hours at most. While I do tend to get bored of sitting and listening to 30 minutes to an hour of audio to cut and edit, the work is simple enough for me to maintain a weekly schedule. Even so, I plan to have some content lined up before I actually start uploading just in case I end up missing a day! The podcast platform I use allows me to earn revenue as a beginner and even uses itself as your first sponsor so you can prove yourself to other companies. I recorded a single episode three years ago and managed to collect over a dollar. While that isn’t much, I haven’t touched or advertised my podcast in years! I hope by posting weekly, I manage to collect a lot more in a shorter time.
