Write about your first computer.
In middle school, my brother and I started getting into computer games, mostly Minecraft. He would use my dad’s laptop and I would use my mom’s computer. That system only worked when my parents weren’t using their computers. Mom worked from home answering emails for a website and Dad is an engineer who also loves playing his own video games.
I decided, I just had to have my own laptop! I talked to my dad about the best ones to get and how much money that would be. I started making hats and selling them in school and trying to do extra chores around the house. I got so excited about which laptop I was going to get. My dad, however, wasn’t sure if I’d be able to afford a good one myself. I worked really hard to save up and ended up collecting a good $200.
Christmas came around and all I wanted was my own laptop. My dad sat me down and told me a cheap laptop was garbage (he was into the highest end technology being an engineer and all) and I told him I didn’t care! I wanted one all my own. He saw how serious I was and how hard I worked and caved.
I was stunned when I opened my Christmas presents to find a laptop. I honestly didn’t think he’d get me one, but he did. I was elated! I downloaded my favorite games (Minecraft) and played the entire day with my brother.
It became a lot easier having my own computer once I reached high school and needed to actually do my assignments on the computer instead of just pen and paper.
My parents ended up getting me a new laptop after I graduated high school so I’d have a good one for college. That worked out well for the one year I went but I still use it to this day. But I will always remember my first laptop fondly.
